Annapurna Bhandar has quickly become one of the most searched welfare schemes in West Bengal. Many families are confused about what changed from Lakshmir Bhandar, whether they need to apply again, which website is the real one and why money has not arrived. This guide brings everything together in one place, in plain language, so you can understand the scheme and use the official government portal confidently.
Important: AnnapurnaBhandars.com is an independent guide. We are not a government website and we do not accept applications. Never share your Aadhaar number, bank details, OTP or password with any website or person other than the official portal or your local government office.

What is Annapurna Bhandar?
Annapurna Bhandar is a monthly financial support scheme of the Government of West Bengal for women. The money is sent every month directly to the woman’s bank account through DBT, so there is no middleman and no cash handling. The scheme is meant to help women manage household expenses such as food, children’s needs and health costs, and to give them some financial independence.
The scheme takes over from Lakshmir Bhandar, which many families in Bengal already know. If you were receiving Lakshmir Bhandar, read our Lakshmir Bhandar vs Annapurna Bhandar comparison to understand what changes for you and whether you need to do anything.
Who can get Annapurna Bhandar?
In general, the scheme is for women who are permanent residents of West Bengal and fall within the age limit set by the government. Some groups, such as permanent government employees, are usually excluded. Because these rules decide whether you get the money, we only publish exact figures once they are confirmed:
- Age limit: To be confirmed, check the official notice
- Income limit: To be confirmed, check the official notice
- Other conditions: listed in full in our eligibility guide
Not sure if you qualify? Use our free eligibility checker. It runs only on your phone, asks a few yes/no questions and stores nothing.
How to apply for Annapurna Bhandar
You can apply in two ways:
- Online, on the official West Bengal portal, by registering with your mobile number and filling in the application form.
- Offline, at a government camp announced by your block or municipality, or at your local BDO / municipality office, where staff help you fill in the paper form.
Our step-by-step application guide walks through both methods. If you prefer the paper form, the Annapurna Bhandar form PDF guide explains where to get the genuine form and how to fill every field correctly.
Before you start, keep your papers ready. Our documents required checklist lists everything, including photo size rules, and you can print it using the document checklist tool.
How to check Annapurna Bhandar status
After applying, you can track your application on the official portal using your application ID or registered mobile number. The status will show whether your application is pending, under verification, approved or rejected. Our Annapurna Bhandar status check guide explains each status message in simple words and tells you exactly what to do if your application is rejected.

When does the money come?
Payments are sent month by month. The exact date can change, so we keep one page with a month-wise payment table that we update whenever an official date is announced: see Annapurna Bhandar payment date.
If your status says approved but you have not received money, the most common reasons are a bank account not linked (seeded) with Aadhaar, an inactive account or a name mismatch. Our payment status guide explains how to check DBT status and fix each problem.

Stay safe from fake websites and agents
Because the scheme is popular, many unofficial websites and social media pages copy its name. Some ask for money or personal details. Follow these simple rules:
- Apply only on the official portal or at a government camp/office.
- Check the website address carefully. Government of West Bengal portals end in .gov.in.
- Never pay anyone to “approve” your form. Applying is free.
- Never share an OTP with anyone, even if they claim to be from the government.
- Do not install unknown apps that claim to be the “Annapurna Bhandar app”.
